insurance resolutions

A new year is upon us (see ya later, 2020!) and it’s that time when people start to think of goals. What insurance resolutions will you make in 2021?

It seems like many people make resolutions to exercise or eat healthy, or maybe read more books or spend more time with family. But you can make insurance resolutions as well, and they can help you with your long-term financial goals.

So, what insurance resolutions will you make in 2021? Here are four to consider. Read on:

Life insurance

If it’s been a while since you reviewed you or your spouse’s life insurance – and you’ve added a kid or three or a kid or three has flown the nest – resolve to right-size your life insurance policies in 2021. Make sure you have enough, or downsize if you are older and no longer have as many dependents.

Inventory

If you haven’t updated or inventoried your home and its contents, it’s high time you did. You probably haven’t thought about your homeowner’s policy in years so make 2021 the year you make sure your policy still fits what you own and how you live. Making a video of your valuables and then storing it in the cloud is a great idea in case the worst happens.

Umbrella policies

If you haven’t considered an umbrella policy, this year is the year. This policy can cover any number of things and it adds that peace-of-mind factor to your existing policies.

Umbrella policies are cost-effective and provide an extra layer of protection to your homeowner’s and auto insurance policies. Talk to your insurance agent today.

Long-term disability insurance

You are young and healthy, so why would you need this? It’s simple: You are more likely to become disabled than die, meaning you’ll still need to provide for your family. There are short- and long-term policies available, so do some research and find the right one for you.
