Spring has sprung and it’s time to get going on your RV spring checklist!

It’s an exciting time of year – camping season! And many RV owners are ready to hit the road. It’s important, however, not to skip your RV spring checklist, so you can stay safe while having fun.

Here are four things to put on your RV spring checklist. Read on:

Power systems

Before you hit the road, you’ll need to make sure that any maintenance that’s outstanding gets done – especially on your RV’s power systems. You can do this by making sure all your connections are good and nothing is damaged or corroded. Check your batteries and your generator, if you have one, and make sure there aren’t any animals or nests in your systems that can cause issues.

It is also a good idea to check and test all your appliances!

Water systems

If you are like many RV owners, you probably winterized your freshwater system so you’ll need to drain it and flush out the chemicals you used to make it safe again. Your RV manual should tell you how to do this properly! You’ll also need to check your water pump and your hookups and test your valves – like your shower, toilet and any faucets you have.

Insurance

If you haven’t checked your RV insurance lately, now is the time to make sure you have adequate coverage that reflects how you use your RV – and its age and value. After all, when was the last time you thought about your RV insurance? Talk to your insurance agent today!

Cleaning and stocking up

If your RV has been sitting all winter, it needs a good cleaning for sure – inside and out! Make sure you look for any signs of damage from pests like rodents or insects and fix it before your first camping trip! You should also go through your supplies and restock things like batteries, toiletries, flashlights, paper products and anything you need on the road.
