The history of Crumrine Financial Services
September 21, 2020This year alone, it seems like everyone is getting out and getting a new RV, which brings up the issue: Do you need RV insurance?
The answer, of course, is yes! In our professional opinion, if you are going to own a fun toy like an RV, you’ll need insurance. No one wants to think about something bad happening, but by having insurance, you can rest assured that even if it does, you are covered.
Here is all you need to know about RV insurance. Read on:
An insurance policy for your RV is generally an additional policy you can get from your insurance company that protects recreational vehicles like campers, fifth wheels, motorhomes, coaches etc. There are many different ways to cover your RV, depending on the type of vehicle you have and how you use it (if you live in it or drive it, vs. towing it).
Like most insurance, you’ll get a policy that fits your needs – and fits your budget.
At the minimum, you’ll need liability insurance for your motorhome if it is one you drive vs. one you tow. If it is one you tow, generally you are covered for liability under your car insurance policy.
If you have a travel trailer, you aren’t generally required to have insurance but it’s a good idea to get it because it’s an asset and you probably spent a good chunk of your hard-earned money on it!
You could see your RV damaged or stolen, and having an insurance policy can help mitigate that loss.
Don’t let being under- or uninsured ruin the fun of a carefree life on the road in your RV!
